Giant White Bird of Paradise

These are evergreen banana-like plants, related to the well-known crane flower. Grows up to 30 feet tall in the wild. As a young plant the long, paddle-shaped leaves on heavy stalks make a handsome green specimen. If big enough to flower, the inflorescence is almost woody with blue and white flowers produced in succession from a heavy boat-shaped spathe. Impressive addition to any landscape and also good for commercial and office situtations. This plant is often mistaken for being a Travellers Palm. Zone: USDA: 10-11 Frost Tolerance: to 45 °F (7 °C).
