Queen Palm

(Syagrus romanzoffiana) - A palm with graceful arching fronds with a smooth trunk to 25', edible orange fruits. Majestic and fast-growing, its straight, erect trunk is topped with a narrow crown of 10 to 15-foot-long fronds that arch like an ostrich feather for a fluffy, graceful silky green elegance. Used extensively by tropical landscapers as an attractive, durable palm. Very hardy and is drought tolerant requiring little water. Adds a special touch to any tropical or jungle landscape, also good in office and commercial settings. This species is one of the most commonly used species of palm trees. They respond to good nutrition, soil and lots of water. They are also reasonably cold hardy. The tallest Queens seen are about sixty feet from the ground to the top of the crown.
